The High Speed 2 (HS2) Command and Control (CCS) and Traffic Management (TM) systems will underpin the operation of the HS2 route. It will regulate the automatic operation of the trains on the line, permitting up to 18 trains per hour to operate safely and efficiently, to maximise capacity. It will also interface with conventional rail systems at numerous points on the route, and act as a technological springboard for future route extensions.

The iBus2 Services will support Transport for London and its Operators for all 4,500 bus vehicles across Greater London by providing real time passenger information and vehicle location information to interfacing systems. High Speed 2 (HS2) Operational Report

West Coast Partnership (WCP) for High Speed 2 Limited

Founded in December 2019, WCP operates express passenger rail services on the West Coast Main Line, between London Euston, the West Midlands, Shropshire, North Wales, Liverpool, Manchester, Carlisle, Edinburgh and Glasgow. In 2026, it will introduce passenger services on the new, £98bn High Speed line between London Euston and Birmingham, following by further line extensions to Manchester and Leeds.

Project Overview: HS2 required a specialist contractor to deliver a state-of-the-art European Train Control System (ETCS), Automatic Train Operation (ATO) and Traffic Management (TM) systems to control Britain’s high-speed rail services reliably and frequently. The TRU programme aims to deliver improvements to connectivity and capacity on the TransPennine route between Manchester Victoria and Selby / York via Huddersfield and Leeds. Its goals include:

  • Leeds to Manchester Victoria target journey time of 44 minutes with 1 stop
  • York to Manchester Victoria target journey time of 67 minutes with 2 stops
  • Capability to operate 8 x 24m vehicles for InterCity services and 6 x 24m maximum for local services
  • A performance target of 92%.

The Oman Rail is a government funded company which has planned large scale infrastructure projects including the development of a railway network for mixed freight and passenger operations with future plans for building a high speed rail network. The planned Oman Rail Project will span over 2,135 km and will connect Oman’s major ports and industrial areas with the country’s mineral deposits and oil reserves. In addition, the rail connects Oman to the region through the GCC rail network.
